CHANGE OF TONE PDF Print E-mail

ImageThere was a distinct change of tone last night as the Nasties albeit became rugby league converts. The first of at least 4 touch matches was played at Hitchcock Park , home of the World Famous Avalon Bulldogs .

On behalf of all of the Nasties I would like to thank Glenn Farrell AKA “Dim Sim “ for allowing us to utilise the ground for at least the next 4 weeks.

Glenn also showed some good touches during the match forming a formidable pairing with Darren "The Lord Mayor" Flynn.

The match started slowly with both sides taking their time to acclimatise to the pitch.

Aido’s team started well & put in a few quick tries, with some excellent work by Adam and Aido himself.

Adam is starting to look like he might be sharing the Number 9 shirt with Scotty "my hand is weak" Dalton.

This was followed by a barrage of huge runs by Flynnie’s team, well led by the new lad Colin & the somewhat fit and inform Trent "Pillowrib’s the Avo RSL socialite" Williams.

Flynnie was missing his old mate Aido, but made some magical moves with Sean which pestered the defence in the searing heat.

A few minor injuries were suffered by the hard working Mark Hodgson and Matty Read but it was good to see the extremely fit looking Timmy Bentley pick up the slack. (Tim we all love the fact that you have had a shave !). I must say that his late hit on the Skip after he had scored another try was reminiscent of the 1992 belting of wallaby winger Paul Corozza by all black prop Richard Loe, after Corozza had scored.

As the match wore on Flynnies lads were simply too good, maybe it was the fact that Boyo, Cowboy and Mita were missing or maybe it was that the defence was put off by the mad running refereeing commentary of Trooper.

It will be interesting to see if Trooper is as blazen when his idol, BOYO returns next week.

Great efforts were made by Just-In, The Warm Up Man Mark Trollope, Kingy, Paul Iron Man Staunton and Adam.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning at 8:30 at Carmels at Palm Beach for our first Sunday training run followed by a sausage sandwich for breakfast.

Onwards and Upwards.
