The Newport Nasries Rugby side have turned their hand to playing in the Bangalley Touch Football Competition at the Doggy Dome last night. The historic moment saw 9 of their keenest players line-up against the Bulldogs 16's side made up of players from the Avalon Bulldogs U16 Rugby Leagua side. "This could be ugly...." chirped Scotty Dalton before a ball was kicked. "We'll be right" said Skip "Lets show them what Rugby boys can do.....".

A few stretches before kick-off had the Nasties primed for whatever the youngsters threw at them. Gunner began strongly with Gaven Sheehan leading his players around the park. Soupy made a few dashing runs with Michael King chiming in well and almost scoring the Nasties first try, a familar scenario for each Nasties player on the night. Although slightly behind on the scoreboard the second half began well. The rugby teams defence improved immensely before a brilliant try to Scotty Dalton gave the Nasties players something to cheer about. "We're back in this game now....." said The Axe to teammates. It wasn't long before Dalton was in again and an air of confidence began to descend on the Nasties team. "We're catching them....." shouted Colin Scott. Mick Watts made an impromptu return to the field for a cameo appearance and had helped to transform the team. The Bulldogs then scored again before the Nasties crossed once more with the hardworking James 'Ambo' Hoskins the tryscorer.

"That was fun. At least we won the final 20 minutes 3-1....." Gunner boasted. In the end the scoreline had the Bulldogs 16s team slight winners over the Newport Nasties 22-3. "There is always next week....." commented Tinkerbelle Bentley from the sideline. The next game is on Wednesday at 7.30pm on Field 1 against The Royals. The Nasties will be looking forward to another challenge.
