NASTIES ON SONG FOR LOVEDALE

All roads lead North up the Pacific Highway to the Hunter Valley for the Newport Nasties this weekend as they contest their 3rd Lovedale Gala Day. The charge to their destination will once again be led by Skip McGrath who has set out a punishing roster for the Nasties stay. "We'll all once again meet at Tempus Two on Saturday Afternoon and see where that takes us....." McGrath said with a wry smile. Some surprise cameo appearances from Dim Sim and Notso will help bolster the Nasties ranks at the bar. ".....we're here to ensure the beer stays cold for the players." Dim Sim sternly commented.

NASTIES LAUDED IN HOME GAME RETURN

The much anticipated return of the Newport Nasties Rugby Team to Avalon Bulldogs Stadium had a deliriously excited capacity crowd cheering on their local hero's against the powerful Dee Why Lions and Knox Old Thistles sides today. The Blue & Whites added a splash of colour to the occasion by wearing pink socks for the first time in their short history. "The pink had been taken off the jersey this year so we had to include it somewhere....." Tinkerbelle Bentley exclaimed. Looking to transfer their Eastwood Gala Day form onto the hallowed grounds of the Doggy Dome, the Nasties were looking to win all 3 of their scheduled games. It was not to be however, with the Glamour Northern Beaches side managing a win, a loss and a draw on an enjoyable day of Rugby. The sour note of the day was from Nasties debutante, James Horwill who was injured and taken to hospital while playing for the Old Thistles against Dee Why. No word yet on his condition.

NASTIES READY FOR SUNDAY'S CHALLENGE

The Newport Nasties will play hosts to the Old Thistles and Dee Why at the Doggy Dome this Sunday in the final lead-up to the Annual Loveday Gala Day later this month. Positions in the Blue, White (& Pinks) starting line-up will be fiecely fought out at training tonight with Coach suggesting no player is guarranteed a spot. "The team is such a strong unit it is getting harder to find places for everyone.....: Coach Mojo commented on radio this week.
