 Nasties Rugby A crisp clear winters morning greeted an enthusiastic Newport Nasties Rugby side to the hallowed ground of the former home of rugby, T.G. Millner Field for the annual Eastwood Gala Day. “…..we’re looking good for today…..” commented a positive Skip McGrath before the side’s 9.30am kickoff. Despite the rosy outlook, the early start may have worked against the Northern Beaches glamour side in some very physical battles as they fell to successive defeats before restoring some pride with two hard fought draws to round out the day. |

 Nasties Rugby After a fortnight of rest and focus on the game ahead, it was leadened skies that greeted the mighty Newport Nasties Rugby side for their second match of the season but it did not prevent them from shining in the wet against a powerful Eastwood Charcoal side at Avalon Bulldogs Stadium today. Despite the weather a capacity crowd deliriously cheered on their local heroes to a convincing win on the hallowed turf that was recently named as one of the top 10 rugby grounds in the world by a panel from the IRB. “…..we are very proud of this fact however it is still a league ground and nursery of local talent…..” Bulldogs President and now Nasties icon, Dim-Sim Farrell said in an interview in ‘Rugby News’ magazine this month. |
